Live in Sarasota, Florida, Don’t Flip
March 20th, 2007
|
In 2004 and 2005, every other buyer of a Sarasota home or condo wanted to flip the property. Today there are many homes currently listed in Sarasota that are “move-in” ready or completely updated. These homes have been discounted over the last two years as the market has readjusted providing buyers additional incentive to purchase a home in Sarasota. |
In the height of the flipping craze, older homes on canals, if they weren’t torn down and rebuilt, were gutted, stripped “to the studs,” and refurbished with beautiful crown molding, updated kitchens with wood cabinets, stainless steel appliances and granite countertops. Bathrooms were tiled and new vanities were installed with the newest basins to hit the design market. Investors immediately listed the homes and sold for a profit.
As a result of one of the hottest real estate market’s in history, these outdated canal homes are harder to find. Do some homework, or ask a Sarasota realtor to do the searching for you, and you can find a house that needs some TLC. Don’t flip it, enjoy it, live in it and over time, your Sarasota waterfront home will, again according to history, appreciate nicely.
Currently, in the Sarasota MLS, there are 62 homes in Country Club Shores, a popular Longboat Key waterfront neighborhood. These Longboat Key homes are listed from $799,000 for a 3 bedroom, 2 bath, 2200 sq.ft. home to over $6 million for a luxury 5 bedroom bayfront home built in 2000.
If you think now is the time to buy real estate on Longboat Key in Sarasota Florida, Annette Smith with RE/MAX Properties is available to help you be an informed home buyer or home seller in today’s changing Sarasota real estate market.
