August 21st, 2007
What is a Clue Report?
Each hurrincane season in Florida, homebuyers have more and more questions regarding insurance, and rightly so. Insurance is expensive and sometimes unavailable. Some properties have had too many claims and thus insurance is not available for the property. Clue is the Comprehensive Loss Underwriting Exchange. Clue is a loss history information exchange enabling insurance companies to access prior loss information. Make your contract contingent upon receiving a Clue report from the seller to be sure you can obtain insurance for the property. The property owner is the only party who can order the report due to federal and privacy laws. The Clue Report provides a 5 year history of dates and types of losses and amount paid for each loss.
